One of the most common types of dementia is Alzheimer’s. This type of dementia is most common in people over 65, however there are cases of earlier onset. Alzheimer’s does not appear overnight, but rather over the course of many years. Little by little more signs develop, one of the main signs is memory loss. We all forget occasionally or even more than that, but this does not mean it is dementia. The type of memory loss that people with dementia can have is not recognizing their children, speaking about people in the present who have passed away and not recognizing where they are to name a few examples. There is no cure for Alzheimer’s and the progression can only be slowed down.
